Van Payne Passes Away

April 4, 2019 — Singing News has learned that Van Payne, widow of The Cathedrals’ Glen Payne, passed away in the early hours of Thursday, April 4, 2019.

In a statement issued on Facebook, Darla Payne Hammons, along with her siblings Carla Payne Watters and Todd Payne, shared, “Early this morning our dear mother entered her heavenly home. We know without a doubt she heard the words, ‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant’ and met her Savior face to face. We grieve here on earth, but rejoice that she has a new body, free from Parkinson’s, free from pain, and reunited with her Savior, our dad, and her countless family members and friends. We thank you for your continued prayers that we feel deeply and for the love you have all shown us.”

Visitation for Mrs. Payne will be Tuesday, April 9, 5-7 p.m., and Wednesday, April 10, 12:00-2:00 p.m. Her home-going service will follow at 2:00 p.m., and will be officiated by the family’s longtime pastor, Rev. Rick White, at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home.
