Weleetka, OK — The award-winning Williamsons were recently honored to learn that one of their songs has gone international. “Monday”, written by group member Lisa Williamson, has literally traveled around the world.
Amalia Decean, a former pop star from Romania, shared this with Donnie Williamson. “I am 37 years old and Romanian. Even though I was raised in a Christian home, I didn’t like that life and chose to live my life a different way. At the age of 25 I won a contest on a television show in Bucharest called Star Factory. I remained as a performer on that show for several years. The success I expected didn’t come, and I decided the industry of music wasn’t for me.
In 2007, my brother Abel was killed in a motorcycle accident and at his funeral, I was born again and became a Christian. Five years later, I recorded a Christian album for kids, and later an album of carols. Last year, I recorded an album of old Romanian hymns. Recently my aunt told me about “Monday.” When I heard it, I knew it was a song I had to sing to all the parents in Romania! I now have two kids, and I struggle every day to teach them the good way. I would love to record your song!”
The song stresses the importance of raising our children in the ways of the Lord. Group manager Donnie Williamson said,”Several times a week we get requests for a copy of the song, performance track, music video, or sheet music. Many of the requests come from overseas. The Williamsons released a music video for “Monday” that has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times. “Hardly a day goes by that we don’t get comments from people, many coming from countries around the world,” stated Donnie Williamson.
Time and time again, music goes places where artists’ feet may never walk, speak to hearts that they will never meet face to face, and touch lives that they may never know. The Williamsons’ music continues to impact lives around the world, fulfilling the great commandment Christ gave his disciples to go and spread the Gospel. The Williamsons have taken that and made it their mission to Tell Somebody.
