Titusville, FL (August 26, 2019) — Singing News has learned that Hal Kennedy, pastor and Southern Gospel artist, has passed away. He resided in Titusville, Florida, and served as the pastor of Titusville’s First Pentecostal Church for many years.

Dixie Echoes with Hal Kennedy

Hal had a successful solo career and was a featured vocalist with The Dixie Echoes, appearing on The Dixie Echoes with Hal Kennedy: Coming On Strong and other projects. Known to fans as “The Little Man with the Big Voice,”he is remembered for such hits as “Walking My Lord Up Calvary’s Hill” and “Remind Me, Dear Lord.” Hal also played guitar for The Dixie Echoes during the 1960s.

We are sad to learn the passing of one of the original members of the Dixie Echoes, Hal Kennedy. Hal was loved by everyone and was known for his country stylings and as the “voice” of the Gospel Singing Jubilee. Hal was affectionately known as “The Little Man with the Big Voice.” Please remember the Kennedy family in your prayers the coming days and weeks. We will miss you Hal but we will see you again on streets of gold!

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 31, 2019 at First Pentecostal Church located at 6500 North W St., Pensacola, FL, 32505. The service will be live-streamed at www.firstpent.org. Viewing and visitation will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by the homegoing celebration at 6 p.m. and a reception afterward in the gym. There will be a private family burial service.
