(June 10, 2019) — The Inspirations have posted the following update regarding The Singing In The Smokies:

So many have been asking about the Singing In The Smokies. We want to apologize for not updating you sooner; however, we just weren’t sure what we were going to be able to do. As of [June 10, 2019], The Singing In The Smokies is postponed until further notice.

In 2017 the land that the park sits on was divided and sold between two parties: a private investor and Swain County. The park now rests completely in their control. Swain County representatives had told Archie that The Inspirations could continue to hold their annual singings on the land “as long as time exists” (their words).

When the new purchase took place, the county set forth plans to build a new facility at the park. New stage as well as restrooms, etc. Over the last two years we have tried to continue the singing under a tent and it has been great. However, the expense as well as the liability of using a tent is great. So until the county completes construction on the new facilities, The Singing In The Smokies will be postponed.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone. It’s our hope and prayer that in the next few years we will be able to host the singing again. And that it will be better than it’s ever been in the past. Thank you all for your love and prayers and continued support of The Inspirations.
