The winning song entries for the 2020 Singing News Songwriters Search have been chosen. Singing News partnered with Crossroads Music and 11th Hour to present the 2020 Songwriters Search, which is a songwriting contest that began on January 1, 2020 and ended on May 29.

Judges for the contest included Amber Lynn Saunders (11th Hour), Greg Bentley (Crossroads Music), Kenna Turner West, Jeff Collins (Crossroads Music), Jaquita Lindsey (11th Hour), and Scotty Inman (Triumphant Quartet).

Here is a list of the winning songs for 2020:

Grand Prize Winner

1. “He Proves Me Wrong” • Written by Faith York (Trenton, GA)

The Grand Prize Winner receives a one-song publishing deal for the winning song from Crossroads Music. The winning song will be recorded by Sonlite recording artist, 11th Hour. The winning song will also be performed at the 2020 Singing News Fan Awards show during the 2020 National Quartet Convention (NQC). The winning songwriter will receive a 3-night stay at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, during the 2020 NQC.

2nd Place Winner

2. “God’s Up To Something” • Written by Donnie Rabon (Wake Forest, NC)

The 2nd Place Winner also receives a one-song publishing deal for the winning song from Crossroads Music.

Runners-Up Winners

3. “I’ll Seek Your Face” • Written by Shona Bright (Boaz, AL)

4. “Where The Deep River Runs” • Written by Jaclynn Huse (Ooltewah, TN)

5. “Hold On To Hope” • Written by Nancy Blandford (MI), Sarah Stankiewicz (MI), and Rebecca Sehnert (TX)

6. “All Things Are Working” • Written by Brandon Andrews (Metairie, LA)

7. “Pray Through” • Written by Donnie Rabon (Wake Forest, NC)

As part of their prize packages, all 7 of the above winners will also be included in a Singing News feature story on the contest, which will also be featured as a web story at All winning songwriters will also receive a complimentary subscription (or a 1-year extension) to Singing News magazine.

In addition, the 2nd Place-winning song and the 5 Runners-Up-winning songs will also be “pitched” to major recording artists by Crossroads Music.
