Fay Sykes, Mother of Michael, Passes Away

Sanford, NC (December 5, 2018) — Fay Elizabeth Turlington Sykes, age 82, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Cumberland County on July 31, 1936, to the late Harvey Turlington and Bessie Garner Turlington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Sykes.

Fay is survived by her son, Michael Sykes (Tanya), of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter, Deborah Warpoole (Don), of Sanford, North Carolina; sister, Mildred Watson of Sanford, North Carolina; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

On Dec. 3, Goodman Revival posted this statement to their Facebook page:

Michael’s mother passed away this weekend. Please keep the family in your prayers. She was a lovely woman, and she’s the one who taught Michael to play the piano when he was a boy.
