Crossville, TN (Jan. 19, 2020) — Singing News has learned that Joseph “Joe” Kesterson, 68, of Crossville, Tennessee, departed this life on Friday January 17, surrounded by family. He was the father of Roland Kesterson, lead singer for The Inspirations.

A journeyman tool maker by trade, Joe is remembered as a living example of the love of Christ. He loved Southern Gospel music and sang bass for many years with the Messengers Quartet. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors, but his greatest love was his family.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Jewell Ann Kesterson; sons, Joseph Roland Kesterson and Jared Ryan Kesterson (Autumn); daughter, Jaclyn Rae Duncan (Allen); sisters- Beatrice Huff, Jane King, and Charlotte Kreis; three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived his precious and much-loved grandchildren, Barrett Ryan Kesterson and Treva Ryleigh Kesterson.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg, Tennessee. A funeral service will be held Monday January 20, at 7:00 p.m. EST at Pilot Mountain Missionary Baptist Church, 108 Pilot Mtn. Road, Lancing, TN, 37770. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. EST, prior to the service at the church.
 
Graveside committal will be Tuesday January 21, at 1:00 p.m. at Wartburg City Cemetery in Wartburg, TN. Rev. Mike McCoy and Rev. Billy Goodman will officiate.
