Wait!
Since we must wait four years for our next February 29th, I thought this would be the perfect time to finish writing something I started some time ago.
I guess one could say I was waiting. I don't know about you but for the most part I am not a good wait'er. I am more of a now'er. I know these are not real words, but they work for me.
As I was pulling my notes together from my research on "waiting" I received my daily devotional from "Love Worth Finding." Dr. Adrian Rogers, though already in Heaven with our Lord, is still teaching and spreading the Gospel though his books, CD's and DVDs. (www.lwf.org).
Here is what I received from LWF on February 29.
BIBLE MEDITATION: "Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD." (Psalm 27:14)
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: Do you know the story of Joshua and how the wall of Jericho fell down after the Israelites marched around it once a day for six days, then seven times on the seventh day? Why not just walk around Jericho one time? I think it was because God was testing their faith. God was teaching them that waiting time is not wasted time. Isaiah 28:16b says, "he that believeth shall not make haste." God is never in a hurry like we are. We get upset when we miss a section in a revolving door! God is also never late. He knows what He is doing. Do you know what our problem is? We've been around Jericho six times and we're ready to quit. Say with the psalmist: "My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him" (Psalm 62:5) Dr. Adrian Rogers.
Receiving this Devotional today confirmed I was following the leading of the spirit in my subject matter for this blog. Somewhere out there, there are those with whom God wants to share this message.
I, like many of you question from time to time; Am I where I want to be? Or am I where God wants me to be?
I seem to always have more questions than I do answers. The answers do come, but for the most part, not according to my schedule. I always want the answers NOW. This I have learned: "that just ain't gonna happen!"
I know for a fact the most trouble I have ever caused myself was jumping out ahead of God's timing. Now this WILL really mess you up.
In another DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT Dr. Adrian Rogers said:
"One preacher was in a church where he felt God had led him. But nothing seemed to work out, so he wanted to go to another church. He told a friend, "I know where God put me and I know God put me here, but I just wonder if He remembers where He put me." Yes, God remembers! He has not forgotten. He is never late. Don't rush God. Don't think He has abandoned you because your prayers are not answered. He will turn your midnight into a sunrise and your mourning into dancing."
Have I corrected my "Wait upon the Lord" dysfunction? Not completely, but I have made progress. I have found several scriptures on the subject and made me a list. Print these out and put them somewhere convenient. I use them for discipline reinforcement.
(Psalm 25:5) Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
(Psalm 37:9) For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
(Psalm 104:27) These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.
(Micah 7:7) Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.
(Romans 8:25) But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
(Galatians 5:5) For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
Till next time~
I love you,
