Better Late Than Never!

Since this is "Get out the next issue of Singing News week", this will be a short Jerry's Journal. But it's a good one.

BIBLE MEDITATION:
"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
(John 3:3)

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Nicodemus was so impressed with the miracles Jesus had done that he wanted to find out more. He asked Jesus about miracles, and Jesus began to talk to him about births. It's as if Jesus were saying, "Nicodemus, if you want to understand miracles, you're going to have to become a miracle." Now Nicodemus was an intelligent man. He was a ruler of the Jews and a Sanhedrin, and yet, with all of his learning, Jesus said to him, "Except you are born again, you cannot see the kingdom of God." People simply can't understand spiritual things until the Holy Spirit of God turns the light on in their souls.

ACTION POINT:
Do you know someone who has a lot of education, but no salvation? I challenge you to share this same Good News with him or her today.

BIBLE MEDITATION:
"Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."
(John 3:7)

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Have you ever known anyone who was physically born twice? Have you ever known someone who was spiritually born twice? Nowhere in the Bible will you find a passage that describes anyone being saved twice. Once you come into the family, you're in the family. Now there were times when I disappointed my parents. There were times when my father had to chastise me, but I am a Rogers. I will be a Rogers for all eternity. It's the same way with your spiritual life. When you are born into the family of God, your name is written in the Lamb's book of life. It is fixed. It is done.

ACTION POINT:
Do you know a brother or sister in Christ who is doubting his or her salvation? Encourage him or her with this Good News today.

FUNNY BONE:

Staring my favorite Blond Sister Karen Peck Goouchy........

Ricky cuts Karen's blonde hair and she looses her voice. She can't sing any more, she can't make money any longer and she starves to death.

Karen gets to the Pearly Gates, and is met by St. Peter himself. However, the gates are closed. As she approaches the gatekeeper. St. Peter said, "Well, Karen, it is certainly good to see you. We have heard a lot about you. I must tell you, though, the place is filling up fast, and we have been administering an entrance examination for everyone. The test is short, but you have to pass it before you can get into Heaven."

Karen responds, "It sure is good to be here, St. Peter, sir, but nobody ever told me about any entrance exam. I sure hope that the test ain't too hard. Life was a big enough test as it was."

St. Peter continued, "Yes, I know, Karen, but the test is only three questions."

First: What two days of the week begin with the letter T?
Second: How many seconds are there in a year?
Third: What is God's first name?

Karen leaves to think the questions over. She returns the next day and sees St. Peter, who waves her up, and says, "Now that you have had a chance to think the questions over, tell me your answers."

Karen replied, "Well, the first one -- which two days in the week begin with the letter T? That one is easy. That would be Today and Tomorrow."

Saint Peter's eyes opened wide and he exclaimed, "Karen, that is not what I was thinking, but you do have a point, and I guess I did not specify, so I will give you credit for that answer."

"How about the next one? How many seconds in a year?"

"Now that one is harder," replied Karen, "but I gave it lot's of thought, and I guess the only answer can be twelve."

Astounded, St. Peter said, "Twelve? Twelve? Karen, how in Heaven's name could you come up with twelve seconds in a year?"

Karen replied, "There's got to be twelve: January 2nd, February 2nd, March 2nd..."

"Hold it," interrupts St. Peter. "I see where you are going with this, and I see your point though that was not quite what I had in mind....but I will have to give you credit for that one, too."

"Let us go on with the third and final question.

Can you tell me God's first name"? "Sure," Karen replied, "it's Andy."

"Andy?" exclaimed an exasperated and frustrated St Peter.

"Ok, I can understand how you came up with your answers to my first two questions, but just how in the world did you come up with the name Andy as the first name of God?"

"That was the easiest one of all," Karen replied. "I learned it from a song I sing all the time, 'ANDY WALKS WITH ME, ANDY TALKS WITH ME, ANDY TELLS ME I AM HIS OWN."

So St. Peter opened the Pearly Gates. Andy let Karen in.....

SECRET PHOTOS

Marvin Norcross-President of Canaan Records, Jerry Kirksey-Editor of Singing News, and Jimmie Davis-Governor of the state of Louisiana.

I guess you can tell from my mine and Marvin's slacks this photo was taken a few years ago. The slacks kind of date us, but I still look the same.....Marvin, his wife Chic, Carolyn and I, and Jimmie and Anna were at the Governors fish camp in Many, LA doing a little fishing. Jimmie was a weird fisherman, he talked to the fish, in fact he just talked them right into the boat.

Is that a fish story or what?

Till next time~

Love you all,
