Five, Say It Ain't So - Five Weeks In A Row!
Attitude Control
My Perspective is, "Fear is Faithless and Faith is Fearless." Over time I have learned I can get more control over my fears when I control my attitude.
I have also learned to keep my attitude in the Positive mode. I know you all remember the old half glass of water theory. How do you see a half glass of water. In your mind is the glass "half empty" or do you see it as "half full?" A simple test yet a revealing one. I have also learned that most of the time my greatest fears came from being afraid things would not turn out the way I wanted them to. I really never gave any thought to the possibility these thing might be even better if they did not turn out according to my wishes. A fixed mind unable to bend many times will head straight for trouble.
Another revealing attitude test is, when something comes up, let's say a new opportunity. What is your first reaction? Do you usually start off by thinking of all the reasons it can't be done and it most likely won't work anyway, or do you usually beginning by thinking, sure I can do that, this is no hill for a climber.
Keep this thought in mind, God has never made a bad day, only a new day. How this new day turns out is in our hands.
Below is a devotion by Dr. Adrian Rogers and some scripture. Both will give you a wonderful perspective on thinking positive from the Lords point of view. I have printed both the KJV and the NIV version. Read both carefully. Living these teachings will not only change your attitude, but your life as well.
My own personal experience has taught me, I have never learned a great and meaningful lesson while dancing across the mountain top, they have all came from struggling through the valleys of life. If we are not learning we are not growing in the Lord.

GOD'S WORD
2Cor. 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. KJV
2Cor. 4:17 For our present troubles are quite small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us an immeasurably great glory that will last forever! 18 So we don't look at the troubles we can see right now; rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen. For the troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever. NIV

BIBLE MEDITATION: ". . . the God of heaven, He will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build. . ."
(Nehemiah 2:20)
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: Do you have any problems today? You do? Well, I just have one word for you: "Congratulations!" I don't want to sound flippant, but I am very serious about my comment. You see, a problem really is an opportunity in disguise. You need to learn that God wants you to see your problems as potentialities and your adversaries as opportunities. A Christian is not someone who sees a difficulty in every opportunity, but to the contrary, he's one who sees an opportunity in every difficulty.
ACTION POINT: Think of a problem you are struggling through today. Now, get on your knees. Ask God to show you the opportunity hidden away in your struggle that will bring Him glory.

"Life Lesson "
There was an Indian Chief who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.
The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall.
When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen.
The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.
The second son said no it was covered with green buds and full of promise.
The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.
The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.
The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but only one season in the tree's life.
He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.
If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall.
MORAL:
Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.
Don't judge life by one difficult season.
Persevere through the difficult patches and better times are sure to come some time
Live Simply, Love Generously, Care Deeply, Speak Kindly, Leave the Rest to God. . Happiness keeps You Sweet,
Trials keep You Strong,
Sorrows keep You Human,
Failures keep You Humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only God keeps You Going!

FUNNY BONE:
On a recent flight, Karen Peck Gooch was seated in economy class, but she got up and moved to the first class section of the plane and sat down.
The flight attendant watches her do this and asks to see her ticket. She then tells the Karen that she paid for economy class and that she will have to sit in the back.
Karen replies, "I'm blond, I'm beautiful, I'm going to Houston and I'm staying right here."
The flight attendant goes into the cockpit and tells the pilot and the co-pilot that there is a blonde sitting in first class that belongs in economy and won't move back to her seat.
The co-pilot goes back to Karen and tries to explain that because she only paid for economy she will have to leave and return to her seat. Karen replies, "I'm blonde, I'm beautiful, I'm going to Houston and I'm staying right here."
The co-pilot tells the pilot that he probably should have the police waiting when they land to arrest this blonde woman who won't listen to reason. The pilot says, "You say she is a blonde? I'll handle this. I'm married to a blonde. I speak blonde."
He goes back to Karen and whispers in her ear, and she says, "Oh, I'm sorry." And she gets up and goes back to her seat in economy.
The flight attendant and co-pilot are amazed and asked him what he said to make her move without any fuss. I told her, "First class isn't going to Houston!"

This photo was taken at a press conference just after Karen got off of the plane for Houston, however she was in Maine. ___________________________________________________
SECRET PHOTOS My secret photo files reveal Karen's hair secrets.
Karen has a hairdresser and beauty salon located in her horse barn behind her home.
Same mouth and teeth, different hair.
A photo of Karen, back in the early tintype days of photography.
It's amazing what I can do on my MAC with a little help from iPhoto.
Till next time. . .
