SGMA's Liz Autry has been kept busy this year selling "Vestel" bears.
SGMA's is replacing the original glass Hall of Fame plaques with new Bronze plaques. Families of inductees, business and friends have made this possible by sponsoring plaques. The plaques cost $2,000.00 each. Pictured L/R are Bob Crawford, Jerry Kirksey and Ken Hardin. Bob and Ken were both employed by Canaan Records a few years back and were closely associated with Marvin Norcross. They are presenting me on behalf of the SGMA with checks for $1,000.00 each to sponsor Marvin Norcross's Hall of Fame bronze plaque. If you would like to sponsor a plaque contact Liz or Charley at the SGMA office. 1+865+908+4040.

NQC Tuesday 9-13-05
WOW !! Fans by the thousands filled the exhibition hall and auditorium tonight. Numbers that rivaled Saturday night crowds when the NQC was in Nashville filled all of our hearts with joy. God's people don't let fear and doubt control their lives they trust God and carry on. And that is the way it should be.
Tuesday was a very business day for me. We had a long yet very productive SGMA board meeting; then we attended a wonderful reception for Dottie Leonard Miller. The Southern Gospel Music Guild bestowed their Life Time Achievement Award on a well deserving Dottie.
Then we went to Freedom Hall for for another night of great Southern Gospel Music. Hope you enjoy these photos.
Maurice and Marsha Templeton with Jan and Jerry Goff at the SGMA reception for Dottie Leonard Miller.
Everyone pitched in to help clean up the delicious food served at the reception.
Dottie Leonard Miller receiving her Life Time Achievement Award from Judy Nelon of the SGMG.
Dottie and Jerry Kirksey. Dottie and I have been personal friend for many, many years. I was honored to be asked to speak at the reception.
Carolyn Kirksey visits with some of her best friend Ora Blanch and Martin Cook of the Inspirations. The entire Cook family are among our dearest friends.
Fans lined up at the McKamey table to purchase product from their favorite group. Ruben Bean and all of the McKamey were kept busy all night.
Here are two of the finest folks in Southern Gospel Music. Mary Tom and her brother Ben Speer. Mary Tom and I share the same birthday, June 13th. Ben is carrying on the legacy of their dad the great G.T. (Dad) Speer in hosting the famous Stamps-Baxter Singing School where he teaches our next generation of singers how to sing it right.
Pictured L/R Liz Autry SGMA Hall of Fame and Museum curator, SMGA Executive Director Charles Waller, Mr. & Mrs. Rick Goodman and Karen Peck Gooch. As the official spokes person for Goodman Ministries Rick gave the rights to the "Vestel" Bear to the SGMA at no charge. The Vestal bear is a numbered limited edition collectable. Charles Waller is presenting Mrs. Goodman with the first (number 1) bear.
Most of you will remember Charlie Beatenbo who was with Wendy Bagwell and the Sunliters for many years. I had not seen Charlie since Wendy died. I enjoyed visiting with Charlie who is now a full-time travel evangelist.
Tracy and Libbi Stuffle spent a big part of the night posing for photos for their fans. I happened by and since they were already posing I took a shot of them also.
While much was going on in the exhibit hall, the singing was going on in Freedom Hall. The Crabb Family was on stage when I took this photo.
Pictured L/R Norman Holland of Day Wind Records and Carolyn Kirksey of Singing News. Carolyn and Norman are long time friends. Both Norman and Carolyn's families are from the Headland ALA, Dothan ALA Graceville FL area. All of these places are just a few miles apart. They enjoy talking about home, family and these famous good ole days.
Well, that's it for tonight. We'll shoot some more photo of the wednesday night happenings for you.
Be sure to check out Danny's Diary for more great NQC photo's and coverage.

Thousands of Southern Gospel Singing fans enjoyed an evening of traditional Quartets tonight during the opening night of the 2005 National Quartet Convention in Louisville KY.
Here are a few photos I took around the exhibit hall.
Singing News publisher Maurice Templeton taking a look at a color print of the October 2005 Singing News.
SGMA curator Liz Autry and SGMA Executive Director Charles Waller manning the SGMA booth.
SGMA board member Bob Brumley showing off the new "Jake" bear. The second in a series of collectable bears from the SGMa.
The 'Jake" bear and the "Vestal" bear.
The massive food court in the exhibition is always full of Singing fans.
The National Quartet Convention exhibit hall covers over 150 thousand square feet. You can buy anything from a CD to a new $500,000.00 bus.
The Singing News booth is 20 foot by 50 foot and stays crowded for the whole week.
I stopped by the Perry's booth, but Libbi did not have any of her popular fresh baked ham. However as you can see above there was some HAMING in the booth.
Mr. & Mrs. Daune Garren visit with the Danny Jones at the Singing News booth. Boy if this is all you guys had to do, you must have been really bored.
Thats it for tonight, hope to have you some new photos from Tuesday night at NQC soon.
