Perspective

Love.............

From the heart.... LOVE....

God has generously given us many earthly examples of heavenly realities. But I wonder how many of us put the two together.

I believe that love, marriage and children are three of the most important examples of heavenly realities.

Love: God could have created us just like the angels, but He did not want robot love, He desired genuine, from the heart love. Example: The kind of love between a man and his wife.

I love Carolyn just because she is Carolyn, she needs nothing else to earn or keep my love, and I know she loves me in the same manner. I don't want Carolyn loving me because she has to. That would be an empty, meaningless and unfulfilling love. God wanted us to understand this, so he gave us an earthly yet sanctified marriage. Our earthly bride and the bridegroom example. Carolyn and I fully understand the concept of the bride and the bridegroom; ours and the greatest marriage of them all, the one to come....WOW...

I love God because He is God and that along is all I need or want. It is this earthly example of unqualified love for Carolyn and her love for me, that allows me to comprehend a no requirement love for, and from God.

If you think about it, Love really does make the world go around. Love is the most powerful driving force on this earth. Most of us would do anything to really be loved, but yet we don't seem to put the same emphases on loving others.

Jesus said the two greatest commandments were the Love commandments. If the whole world did nothing but follow those two commandments what would the world be like.

If we truly loved our God and our neighbor, there would be no wars, no armies, no need for jails or prisons, no police, no crime of anykind, no killing of babies, no abuse of children, and that list goes on forever.

Absolute love insures complete peace. Is not love and peace mankinds number one dream? What a shame we are in the mess we are in, when we have had all the answers for thousands of years.

Old satan has really done a job on us all, but we have no excuse because God in His word warned us about lucifer, his powers and how to defeat him. God told us, we didn't listen.

I have found that I am no match and can not defeat lucifer within my own strength, which by the way I tried for many years. Now I don't get in the ring to fight lucifer myself, I send God in for me. Now lucifer don't like that at all, but I love it.

BIBLE MEDITATION: "And above all things have fervent love among yourselves: for love shall cover the multitude of sins." 1 Peter 4:8

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: Why is love so important? First, because love is the greatest virtue. First Corinthians 13:13 tells us that love supercedes faith and hope. Second, because love is the greatest command. Jesus said, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind" (Matthew 22:37). Third, love is the greatest testimony. What is really going to make your community wake up and believe that your church is really the church of the Lord Jesus Christ? The size of your building? The way your lawn looks? The signage at the street? No. The way you love God and show love to others. Nothing can motivate a lost sinner like the heartfelt love of Jesus Christ.

ACTION POINT: Make a commitment to God right now, that you will seek to love Him with all your heart, soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself. Ask for His strength to do this. Anything less is sin.... Dr. Adrian Rogers

Have a Christ centered day, I guarantee you it will be a Good One.

Love you..... Jerry ( and I really mean that)

At Home with Jerry & Carolyn

Carolyn and I were in Boone this past weekend and enjoyed a weekend at home. Sunday after church we found a new restaurant in Banner Elk, NC, just a ten minute drive from Boone. "Sorrento's" is a bistro featuring great Italian foods. They even make their own noodles. In fact just about all food, from soup to desserts are made in-house and it's all unbelievably delicious. If you are in the area you really should give Sorrento's a try.

On my last blog I posted some photos of the landscaping around the Singing News that Pam Slaney did; now I will show you some landscaping around my house that Carolyn and I did. I really enjoy working in my yard.

Nobody uses our front door, everyone comes in the back door into the patio room. We love this area outside that door.

We spend lot's of time in the late afternoon a sitting in the swing enjoying the beauty of the trees and flowers and listening to a wide variety of animal songs and sounds.

This is my garden. My dad would roll over in his grave if he saw how far my farming has fallen. When I was a young'un we had about an acre kitchen garden. Daddy had a big garden until he died at age 86. Anyway you can't see it to well, but I have a tomato bush, eggplant, cucumbers, yellow squash, and a variety of peppers mixed in with my flowers.

This is Carolyn's rock garden and flowers. Ain't near as pretty as mine.

I have a potting table and I enjoy creating my own arrangements. This is one I did this spring.

This is Carolyn's corner. She picked out the flowers, the fountain, and accessories. Not bad for an amateur.

I know I am partial, but I think this is the prettiest flower in my garden. My Carolyn just a few.... years ago.

Dovational for today
by Dr. Adrian Rogers

BIBLE MEDITATION: "These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full." John 15:11

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: Do you depend upon Jesus Christ? I mean totally depend upon Him? Here's the way you can tell - are you resting in Him today? You see, when you are totally committed to Jesus Christ, you rest in Him. You realize that your every need is necessary for Him to supply. Have you ever looked at a branch? It has no other source of life than the vine. If you asked that branch, "What's your secret for your healthy leaves and fruit?" then he would say, "My secret is that I'm resting in
the vine." "But, what about your needs?" you ask. "I know I have needs, but that's not my responsibility. My response is to rest in the vine's ability to provide. I don't produce the fruit. I just bear it." Are you resting in the Lord today?

ACTION POINT: Take a walk outside over the next couple of days if you can and take a close look at the trees, shrubs, and vines. Meditate on what it means to abide in Christ "that your joy might be full."

My dad believed that God loved Farming and Fishing. Daddy could make each one almost a spiritual thing. He would pull out a farming or fisherman Bible verse to fit whatever point he was trying to make. When he could not find one of those he would always use; "the Lord moves in mysterious ways His wonders to preform." That was Daddy's one verse fits all verse.

I will quit rambling for today.

Have A Christ centered day, and I'll guarantee you'll have a good one.

Love YOU....... Jerry
