From Jerry...Just for YOU !

It's been a few days since I've posted anything new because Carolyn and I were on the road for eleven days attending the James D. Vaughan Festival in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, and the Albert E. Brumley Sing in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Both events were great and had larger crowds than last year. It's always good to see Southern Gospel Music grow.

I have been in the office all this week, catching up and working on some new ideas for our web site. Carolyn and I will be in Chattanooga, Tennessee next week, Thursday August 18 - Saturday 20, 2005 at the Fan Festival. If you're in the area, come by and say hello and subscribe or renew your subscription at the Singing News table. Carolyn asked me to tell you to bring a copy of your favorite recipes with you. Last week in Fayetteville, our friend Jody McAnally from Rogers, Arkansas, not only brought Carolyn a recipe for a Double Fudge Chocolate Praline cake, she baked me one and brought it to me. Hint, Hint. I did not get to eat most of it because I had lots of help from Archie Watkins, Derrell Stewart, Ruben and Peg Bean, Duane and Mickey Garren and others. The cake drew quite a crowd behind the Singing News table. The next night, Jody brought me my all time favorite a "Coconut Cream Pie." Now I am here to tell you Jody knows how to make a Coconut Cream Pie. It was the best I have ever tasted.

At home or on the road, I have my laptop with me. Each morning, I start my day with what I call my message from God through His servant, Dr. Adrian Rogers. Dr. Roger's Devotionals always seem to target my need for the day. I am going to share some of these Devotionals with you on my blog. I pray they will mean as much to you as they do to me. Please pray for Dr. Rogers as he is going through cancer treatment at this time.


BIBLE MEDITATION: "Show me Thy ways, O LORD; teach me Thy paths. Lead me in Thy truth, and teach me: for Thou art the God of my salvation; on Thee do I wait all the day." Psalm 25:4-5

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: When I obey God, I am a blessing to you. When you obey God, you will be a blessing to me. You cannot obey God without your obedience spilling out in a blessing to all those around you. The same is true in the negative. When we disobey God, we break the hearts of those around us. Perhaps you are breaking the hearts of your father, mother, wife, husband, or best friend today because you are disobeying God rather than letting the joy of Jesus be manifest in you. Why do you obey
God? For your good. For their gladness. And most of all, for His glory.

ACTION POINT: Pray: Lord, with all my heart, with all I am, I want to know You. I want our relationship to be close and my faith to grow. Cleanse me and make me new that I may be all that You want me to be. Dr. Adrian Rogers


BIBLE MEDITATION: "But the LORD is my defense; and my God is the rock of my refuge." Psalm 94:22

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: When you get ready to really live for God, you are going to face three enemies. You are going to face those who are in despair - they are going to be howling calamity. You are going to face those with disdain - they are going to laugh at you. And you're going to face those with discouragement - they are going to say that it can't be done. And you better learn to silence their voices. How do you do that? Get alone in the secret counsel halls of the Almighty and get your eyes
on God. If you listen to what those people say, you're not going to be victorious in what God is calling you to do. I believe David conquered Goliath because he got alone with God. I believe Joseph survived abandonment and imprisonment because he got alone with God.

ACTION POINT: Write on a piece of paper those people in you life who laugh at you, those who tell you to give up, and those who tell you it can't be done. Now, lift them up to God for Him to silence them and give you the strength to love them to Jesus. Dr. Adrian Rogers

I call this my fishing pond. We have a hundred or so gold fish and that number grows each year. I wonder if we could have a Gold Fish Fry sometime? Anybody ever eat a large gold fish?
