Southern Gospel Nights at Silver Dollar City

Carolyn and I are in Branson MO. We are attending Southern Gospel Nights at Sliver Dollar City. Singing News has sponsored this event for many years. It was a fast turn around for us as we arrived back in Boone from NQC on Sunday evening Sept 19th and we had to leave for Branson on Wednesday morning Sept 22ed. I only had two days in the office to get a lot of work done. Carolyn had two days to unpack, wash and repack, but we made it. The trip went great from Boone to Conway AR., but things kind of bogged down when we got on Hwy 65 from Conway to Branson. There are way to many antique malls on this 150 mile stretch of Hwy. It took me about the same length of time to get from Conway to Branson as it did form Boone to Conway. Since I am still in the doghouse over the "Can of Worms" thing I just stopped when she told me to and kept my mouth shut. Anyway were here and things are going great. I got some good photos from our first night for you to enjoy.

While in Conway we ate at the Market Place Grill. This photo is for Libbi, Tracy and all the Perrys and for Karen and Susan and all the family. Eat your heart out kids. For you new comers you are looking at a Chocolate Mess. Available only at the Market Place Grill.

This is one of dozens of antique stores on hwy 65. It took between 6 and 7 hours to travel 150 miles.

The folks begin to fill Echo Holler at Silver Dollar City as soon as the gates opened.

Back stage Les Beasley told me about the damage he had to his pecan trees and his home. He was not real upset about the pecan trees, he said they were to much work anyway. This winter Les has about 10 acres of great pecan fire wood to keep he and France warm.

Cumberland Quartet owner and manager Depp Brett goes over the program with Silver Dollar City comedian Jim Dandy back stage before the program gets under way.

Silver Dollar City soundmen make mike changes as Depp Brett brings on the Florida Boys.

All the Florida Boys are on stage ready to sing but ole Red Socks. He's still looking for his award from NQC. In this photo you can see about 1/3 of the packed crowd.

Derrall Finally made it

I still can't get all of the crowd in my shot

D. A. Callaway has been with Silver Dollar City for over 28 years. He is the man in charge of all the events at SDC. DA loves Southern Gospel Music and is doing his part to help us promote our music.

Echo Holler has a brand new stage this year. It features a 50"s theme

Those little specks way down yonder on stage is "Precious Assurances" better known as Brian Free and Assurance. Assurance did an outstanding job and the crowd loved them.

The Cumberland Quartet, Florida Boys and Assurance closed the program with some great choir singing.
