Thursday Edition: Jubilee At Sea Photos

Good Thursday to you! I've got some more photos from the Jubilee At Sea to share and I'd like to thank Bev Laha for these photos. Several people are e-mailing photos from the cruise to me, so if you'd like to do the same, feel free to do so. You may e-mail them to danny.jones@singingnews.com. Here's a look through the lens of Bev's camera at the Thursday of the cruise.....

Karen Peck of New River as she sings "Four Days Late."

The Triumphant Quartet on stage in the Islands In The Sky lounge.

The Atlantis Hotel in Nassau. It's fast becoming one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

That's Susan Whisnant with Canaan Smith (the daughter of Joseph and Shawn Smith of the Mark Trammell Trio).

Sunset in the Bahamas.

A day-time view of Nassau.

Canaan's back with her parents (Joseph and Shawn Smith).

Andrew Smith (Dove Brothers) and his soon-to-be wife await their turn at parasailing.

There will be more photos soon!

Wednesday Edition #2: Jubilee At Sea Photos

More photos from the Jubilee At Sea! Make sure you check out the earlier posting from today.

Need to send a post card back home? This was the place to do it. (However, you probably got back before the card arrived.)

Okay, be honest - can you really think of a reason not to hang out here a few days?

Exactly one week later, I'm surrounded by 16" of snow. The high temperature today will be 21. Wind is blowing at 48mph.
I can be at the dock in nine hours. Hmmmm.....

Visitors to Half Moon Cay were treated to lunch during their stay.

Sit down for this one. We found out later that the person parasailing in this photo was ED O'NEAL of the Dixie Melody Boys.

Another look at Half Moon Cay. This photo was taken from the tender as it docked with the ms Celebration.

Many visitors were surprised to find this church building on the island.

Libbi Stuffle, Aaron Wilburn and Mark Trammell share a laugh on the beach at Half Moon Cay.

Wednesday Edition: Photos From Jubilee At Sea

Hey gang!

I'm finally - FINALLY - back in the Singing News office in Boone, NC. Yesterday, I was involved in a series of testing, so I was away from internet access.

Today, I resume my photo coverage of last week's Jubilee At Sea. The photos you'll see today were taken last Wednesday when we made a stop at Half Moon Cay. This is a private island owned by Carnival Cruise Lines and if you ever have the chance to visit it, it's certainly worth the time and effort.

To visit Half Moon Cay, the ms Celebration has to anchor offshore. From there, you ride a tender over to the island. In this photo, guests are arriving via one of the tenders that was used to ferry passengers.

Upon arriving, this archway marks your entrance to the island.

The ms Celebration anchored off the island.

Another image of the clear water that surrounds the island.

Island Paradise!

I heard that phrase on the island many times.

If you had a few extra dollars, there were plenty of opportunities to spend it!

I'll have more later today!

Monday Edition: Jubilee At Sea Photos, Part 2

As I prepare this diary, I'm in Louisville, KY, getting ready to attend several business meetings today. Back home in Boone, there are over 10 inches of snow on the ground, so looking at these cruise photos are rather warming!

You can see more photos of the Jubilee At Sea on yesterday's entry, as well as future editions.

Here's Mary Jane Carter, Rob Collins and Candy Pfeifer (all of the Pfeifers) smiling for the Danny's Diary camera.

The Whisnants were a big hit on the cruise. This was only their second time sailing on the Jubilee At Sea.

The closer we got to the Bahamas, the "bluer" the water became.

On Tuesday, we sailed into the Lucayan Harbour, the first stop of the cruise.

I told you where we were! And, if you'll turn 180 degrees, you'll see the little bass boat we came in on...

...the ms Celebration at the dock.

The world famous straw markets in the Bahamas are almost as legendary as the islands themselves.

It seems as though every where you turn in the Bahamas, there are plenty of places to shop.

The islands are also a major shipping center. Here, there are 18-wheeler trailers loaded with various goods being unloaded or readied for transferred to other vessels.

Meanwhile, back on the ship, David Sutton, Jeff Whisnant and Eric Bennett were consipiring on how to avoid going shopping with their wives. (Based on what I saw later, their plans didn't work.)

America's favorite Christian Comedian, Aaron WIlburn, helped with the emcee duties.

The Dove Brothers brought their style of quartet singing on board the ms Celebration.

The Mark Trammell Trio brought the audience to their feet several times.

Someone has had too much time on their hands. But I'll have to admit, it's cute.

Sunday Edition: Jubilee At Sea Photos, Part 1

Now that I'm back in the good ole USA, things are operating a great deal more smoothly. I've actually got software programs talking to each other and finally, I'm able to show you some of the things I wrote about last week.

Over the next few days, I'll be sharing photos from the Jubilee At Sea cruise. I've got many to share with you, but since Sunday is almost now Monday, I'll get you started with these.

Before I begin though, I've received some e-mails from some readers who were saying that they once saw Part 4 of last week - and then they didn't. I have no idea what the problem was, but I've gone in and restored that text. You should be able to read all of it now.

And now, on with the photos!

This is taken from the top deck of the ms Celebration, just prior to leaving Jacksonville, FL. In the background, you can see one of tallest bridges in the United States. You'll be seeing it again soon.

That's Ed O'Neal of the Dixie Melody Boys, Mike Riddle of the Primitive Quartet and Mark Trammell of the Mark Trammell Trio posing for the camera during the meeting of group representatives that takes place at the beginning of every Jubilee At Sea.

The ms Celebration leaves the Jacksonville dock headed to the Bahamas.

Brian Free (L) and John Pfeifer talk about one of the things they both love to do while on vacation - golf!

The ms Celebration begins to sail under the bridge you saw earlier. Once the ship clears this landmark, the cruise is officially underway.

While the ship was setting sail, Rayburn Lane was hard at work, setting up the Dove Brothers' product table. "I've done this so much, I can do it with my eyes closed!"

Someone who proved to be a fan favorite on the Jubilee At Sea cruise was the Perrys' pianist, Matthew Holt. He's shown here working hard - DURING NORMAL WORKING HOURS. (Unlike the lead singer of the same group who sang at all hours of the night - you'll have to read earlier diary comments about the cruise.)

You can't have a Jubilee At Sea without the Master of all Master of Ceremonies - Dr. Jerry Goff!

More photos to follow on Monday!
