Comments, Comments #3

Without even looking at a calendar, I knew it was Monday before I got out of bed this morning. So, just why is it the early morning comes so early in the morning?!?!

Anyway, thank you for the comments about Danny's Diary you continue to send my way. I appreciate you taking the time to read the Singing News website. Let's take a quick look at what YOU'VE written lately...

Songwriters...
"When I think of the most influential songwriters, I automatically think of Dottie Rambo and then Gerald Crabb."
Amanda

"First, let me start by saying that I absolutely love reading your articles each day and always look to you first when I get my Singing News in the mail each month. You're a blessing to me and never fail to make me smile somewhere as I read along.
"Anyway, on the songwriter issue, I must vote for Gerald Crabb, not only as a songwriter, but also as a wonderful Godly man. He and his family have made such an incredible impact on my life and the lives of my husband and now my children. God has used his songs to minister to us in ways beyond description.
"Another awesome writer that I would suggest would be Kyla Rowland. Kyla has so many songs of notable mention. It amazes me how many songs I come across with her name on them. She would be a definite positive addition to your list.
"Thanks again for making me smile."
Missy

"Albert E Brumley would be my choice of most popular Gospel Songwriter. I've been on this earth 73 years, grew up attending (and still attending) singing conventions, concerts and listening to/watching TV programs of Southern Gospel Music and Mr. Brumley's compositions seem to be the ones I've experienced the most."
H.M.

"I'm a 21 year old fan of Gospel Music and have grown up hearing it all my life. I think Mosie Lister is the greatest and most influential songwriter ever in Gospel Music. Look at songs like "Where No One Stands Alone," "How Long Has It Been," "Goodbye World Goodbye," "Happy Rhythm," "Feelin' Mighty Fine" and "Till The Storm Passes By" - all standards in Gospel Music which are still being recorded today. In his 80's now, he's still writing fantastic songs like "Still Feelin' Fine," "Thank Him For The Miracles" and "River Keeps A Rollin'" for the Booth Brothers, "Hold On" for Palmetto State, and two new songs for the Dove Brothers ("Here Comes The King" and "Rhythm Of The Gospel"). When I look at the legacy this man is creating, I can't help be astounded."
Alan

"I agree with most of your list, with one or two exceptions, but two names come to mind immediately that are not there - Kyla Rowland and Jeff Steele. Both of these writers never cease to amaze and excite me with the lyrics and message of their songs."
Mike

"Though the people you have listed are certainly fine songwriters, most of them, with the exceptions of Dottie Rambo, Albert E. Brumley and Mosie Lister have not been around as long as the man I am thinking of. This would be my friend JD Sumner. JD not only wrote many songs but wrote most or at least a great number of the Blackwood Brothers songs during the heyday of the Blackwood Brothers and Statesmen era. Remember the album "Beautiful Isle Of Somewhere?" JD wrote all of these songs and all of them in one day. I could go on for some time about many of this songs. But, believe me, if you will go back and look, JD was quite a songwriter."
Tommy

Bus Drivers...
"Thank you so much for your article on us. It made me feel appreciated. Gotta run - Ray needs me!"
Ed (editor's note - Ed drives for the Kingsmen!)

Buses, Buses, Buses...
"Whoever came up with the idea of allowing fans to tour the buses of the groups at convention should be congratulated. Fans are naturally curious about how the group members live on the road and are willing to pay the admission price which raises money for a worthy cause. I know it is inconvenient for the groups, but their inconvenience and being accommodating to this venture is their contribution to the cause. I have enjoyed walking through the old Blackwood bus replica in the museum as well as the other exhibits there. I can spend hours there looking at the exhibits and listening to the old recordings. What a treasure Southern Gospel fans have in our museum.
"I love your daily commentaries and being able to put in my 'two cents worth' if I desire. Keep up the good work."
Charlotte
