There are numerous "Sayings" which have been attributed to the Bible, some for a hundred years or more, that do not appear in the Bible. During the month of July we will share some of these that are "Not In The Book."

God Helps Those Who Help Themselves
"God helps those who help themselves," is not found in the Bible and is in fact a contradiction to Bible teaching.
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. –

This saying is a quote
from Benjamin Franklin (1736). Franklin himself was a deist (One who
believes in the existence of a God, but denies Biblical revelation;
he was a freethinker) and so he believed that God did not play an
active role in men's lives. In his point of view if man was not able to
help himself, then man was hopeless.
