I was named after Marion Snider, the original piano player for the Stamps Quartet, back in 1937. My full name is Marion Snider York. I try to keep in touch with him as often as possible. I visited him a few days ago in the hospital in Dallas. He is now out and back home at an assisted living home where he now lives.

At 96 he is not doing very well. I'm sure he would appreciate a card from a lot of his old friends from years gone by. His address is 7615 Meadow Road, Dallas, TX 75230. He is not able to talk on the phone so calls would not help much at this point.

A couple of years ago Marion told me something that cut me to the bone. I just sat and cried at what he said. He said, "I have been in gospel music all my life, had friends around the world, have gone and done so many things with so many people. But now that I am out of the circle and not active in gospel music, I now know who my real friends are. They are the ones that still keep in touch and not very many of those."

Connie and I live on the Texas coast but try to go to Dallas at least 3 or 4 times a year to see him. He is just amazed that we drive about 350 miles just to come see him. I've done it many times and will continue to do it as long as he is with us.

Needless to say, he is very special to us both. It really hurts to see him sitting there wishing for his old friends to just drop by or write a note. It's really heart breaking.
