A Few General Thoughts (#483)

Monday, June 14, 2010
A few general thoughts for this week's Danny's Diary entry.

1.) Thanks for your response as we've searched for a November 1984 issue of Singing News. As we speak that very issue is on the way to our archives, and we are very thankful.

What was somewhat amazing, however, was the number of times we were told "I've got three or four of them." We've always known that most people tend to hang on to their copies of the magazine for a long time, but it still humbles us to know that many of you hang on to them for a lifetime!

Speaking of that, drop me an e-mail at danny.jones@singingnews.com and let me know how long you keep your copy of the magazine, or what you do with it after you've finished reading it. If for no other reason than my own curiosity, I'm very interested in your response.

2.) The Singing News Fan Awards tickets. As noted in my last entry, tickets are selling well and since that last post, the first wave of publicity from Singing News, the SGMA and Dollywood has started entering the marketplace. Thus, the pace is quickening and if you'd like to have a seat at the September 29, 2010 event, you might want to give the SGMA a call soon. Their number is (865) 908-4040. We'd love to see you there.

3.) There's a little project that I'm working on as time permits, and I need your help. I'm looking for your favorite old hymn. I'll share more as this progresses, but in the meantime, just send me the title of the hymn that touches your heart the most. You can use the same e-mail address that I've posted above.

4.) And, finally, in response to repeated inquiries about "The Transition." In other words, the move of the Singing News office from Boone, N.C., to Nashville. It's almost done, and in the coming weeks, you'll learn more about some talented people who are joining the staff of "The Printed Voice Of Southern Gospel Music." You'll find that they are no strangers to Southern Gospel music.
