Yes, It's A New Posting

Yes, I've been rather quiet for the past few days.
If I had a hundred dollars for every time I've been asked "What can we expect?" during the past week, I'd be writing this from my beach-side chair on a tropical island. Instead, I'm watching snow flurries outside my window.
SInce the announcement of the sale of Singing News to Salem Communications was announced last Tuesday, I've heard everything from "It's the end of an era" to "It's the best thing that could ever happen." And, along those same lines, I've enjoyed several good laughs as I've watched the internet chatter. The creativity of some people is amusing, while the creativity of some people is downright frightening.
Long story short, plans are developing, courses of action are being plotted. Is it appropriate to announce those things now? Certainly not, as there is much work to do and decisions yet to be considered.
However, there is one thing that has emerged that is notable at this time. The love of Southern Gospel Music is the driving factor in what's being planned. What will help Southern Gospel Music? What will encourage it's growth? What can be done to make it stronger than ever before?
Singing News is not going away. Instead, it's positioning itself for a yet another 40-year run (Singing News will be forty in 2009).
I'll share more in the near future. In the meantime, look for your November issue of Singing News in your mailbox. Today, we're putting the finishing touches on the December issue. Next week, we begin work on the January issue.
It's still snowing....
