National Quartet Convention Coverage - Tuesday!

Wednesday, September 14, 2005

The second night of the 2005 NQC is now in the history books - and here are some photos from Tuesday. Just for a change of pace, you'll find more shots from the stage. Dennis Zimmerman, once again, is responsible for many of these photo, so hats off to him.

By the way, there are several more photos that we are collecting each day. Since space is limited on the blog, I have to pick and choose and set many aside. Next week, I hope to post many of those photos as a follow-up to the 2005 NQC.

And, now, scenes from Tuesday...

The Kentucky Fair & Expo Center is undergoing a multi-million dollar face lift. This is the new addition at the South Wing.

You probably recognize these two gentlemen - that's John (Palmetto State Quartet tenor) Rulapaugh and Earl Eleton (the Southern Gospel Music Association and more!).

These two guys certainly have one thing in common - they've been promoting Southern Gospel Music for a long time. On the left is Bob Brumley and on the right is Herb Henry.

The Beene Family is just one of hundreds of artists who have their products on display in the exhibit hall this year at NQC.

Squire Parsons brought the trio to NQC.

Phil Brower (L) - a key producer of the events of NQC - and Dr Buck Morton (R) go over the evening's schedule. Buck has been a NQC emcee for several years.

The Down East Boys certainly got a lot of attention with their high-energy presentation on Tuesday night.

The Reggie Saddler Family offered superb harmony during their set.

Dr. Buck Morton and Clarke Beasley of the NQC address convention attendees about upcoming events.

The Primitive Quartet as their performance is recorded for future broadcast.

The Perrys' Tuesday performance was a tribute to the Happy Goodman Family. Joing the group were former HGF band members Rick Goodman and Steve "Rabbit" Easter, as well as Jeff Easter and Tim Surrett.

Mark Bishop watches Mark Bishop greet fans at this booth.

Now, I know I'm getting old. I remember when this Crabb first came to the NQC...He couldn't have been more than 10 or 11 years old. And now, he's got a family of his own......Someone bring me a chair. Quick!

Sometimes, a camera will capture the oddest looks on people's faces. In this Hoppers photo, you can see a wide variety of facial expressions. By the way, the large Tuesday night audience enjoyed their performance.

Greater Vision sang last on Tuesday night. Gerald kiddingly said last night they and the janitors enjoyed it! All kidding aside, though, hardly anyone had left the auditorium by the time the trio went on stage.

Finally, it wouldn't be NQC without this dear lady. Helen Bailey has been an encourager to many performers as she would walk around the stage, lifting her Bible in praise. Though confined to a wheelchair now, her support was truly appreciated by the artists and many of them took the time to spend a few moments with her throughout the evening.
