Luggage

My luggage has arrived!

Now, I realize that doesn't have a whole lot to do with Southern Gospel Music, but since so many people from Pennsylvania have written in and ribbed me about that episode, I just wanted to let you know that Fed Ex just dropped it off at my office. Despite what the airline originally said (the luggage was in California), the current school of thought by those same officials is that the luggage never left Atlanta on New Year's eve.

All's well that ends well.

Have you ever felt like you've lived that story of my luggage? Thinking you're going somewhere, but never get there? Let me share some encouragement with you.

In our roles as Christians, we all have a journey. And despite what some people may think, no one's journey is more important than another's. See, God is counting on us to do our part to the best of our ability, even when things just don't go as planned. Now, He didn't call everyone to preach. He didn't call everyone to sing. He didn't call everyone to write inspirational words. He didn't call everyone to minister at a nursing home. He didn't call everyone to teach Sunday School.

But He did call us to serve.

If you are the one who cleans the church on Tuesday for the week's services, you are serving. If you cut the church's grass, you're serving. Let's take it further out - if you smile at someone in kindness, you are serving. If you pause for a few minutes to lend an understanding ear to a neighbor, you are serving.

God doesn't miss a single thing you do, bad or good.

As we serve God, we are indeed on a journey of a narrow path. We have to stay focused to what is at the end of that journey. After all, this particular journey will end well.

And all's well that ends well.
