Jubilee At Sea - The Singing (#347)

Thursday, March 01, 2007

For today's post, I thought I'd give you a visual account of some of the various artists that appeared on the Jubilee At Sea. (Special thanks to everyone who submitted photos for use in this blog!)

I realize that this is going in reverse, but just so I could get as many artists covered as possible, here is the grand finale concert that featured practically everyone. The Friday hour was approaching midnight when this concert took place and brought the cruise to a successful completion.

The Primitive Quartet has appeared on every Jubilee At Sea cruise (about 20 years). This year, they brought 110 guests with them.

It's been several years since the Greenes took part in the Jubilee At Sea cruise, but for 2007, Tony, TaRanda, Brad and John were on board.

Hope's Call turned in several excellent performances while on board the m/s Celebration.

Brian Free & Assurance showed up as a trio (they're waiting on their new bass singer), but the fans who heard their performances in the Astoria Lounge and the Islands In The Sky Lounge didn't seem to mind one bit.

Here's ole "All I Ever Wanted To Do Was A Sing A Song" himself: Ed O'Neal and his Dixie Melody Boys in action.

Speaking of the Dixie Melody Boys, there was a mini-DMB reunion on board the cruise ship. Former Dixie Melody Boys Dustin Sweatman, Devin McGlamery and Derrick Selph joined the current students of E.O.U. for a few songs.

Here's another group that's been on the Jubilee At Sea for many years, Jeff & Sheri Easter.

Should these two be allowed on the same stage at the same time? Sounds dangerous to me. Tim Lovelace and Tracy Stuffle.

The Whisnants had the audience on their feet many times during their performances. By the way, ask Susan about the key to proper singing - she has some unique vocal instruction techniques.

Here's a group that did exceptionally well on the cruise, the Tribute Quartet.

The Perry's late-week performance in the Astoria Lounge may go down as one of the most spiritual moments to ever take place on the Jubilee At Sea cruise. Just ask any of the 1,000+ fans who were packed into the ship's showroom. Three whole-song encores of "He Will Hide Me Again" preceeded the very dynamic preaching of Joe Arthur...

...even Mark Trammell joined in.

It wouldn't be the Jubilee At Sea without Karen Peck & New River. Speaking of Karen, have you ever eaten at a Johnny's Rockets Hamburgers restaurant? There is one near the Atlantis Hotel on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Before she left that restaurant, all the wait staff were shaking their heads and saying something like "that crazy American." It was like they had never seen a person quite like that. That's all I'm going to say ... for now, at least.

Where's Simon of "American Idol" when you need him? You won't find these guys' photo on any cruise brochure, but they alone were well worth the cost of the cruise ... I think.
