In case you've missed it, the Winter Olympics are taking place this month. (I phrase it that way because I read somewhere that the overall media coverage to this year's event is less than previous years.) Anyway, as was I watching a news report on one of the events, my little mind just strayed away like a two-year old in a toy store.

The only thing that kept going through my mind was this: we need a Southern Gospel Olympics. The more I thought about it, the funnier it got. I shared this thought with a few artists and here are a few events they suggested...

-The Bus Tire Toss. Personally, I think the medal finalists in this event would have to include Tracy Stuffle, Les Beasley and Ed O'Neal. Tracy may be the youngest and strongest, but my money's on Les because he's got more years of bus frustration pent up deep inside of him.

-Fastest Generator Belt Change. Ben Isaacs will probably win this, although I think Jeff Easter could give him a real challenge in the final stretch. The darkhorse in the race would be Gold City's Bill Lawrence.

-The Southern Gospel Dart Throw. Translated, that means who could book the most dates by merely throwing darts at an United States map. Booking agents would be prohibited from entering this because their artists say they have too much practice at this. (The artists said this in jest and want their agents to know they were just kidding.)

-Fastest Post Concert Restaurant Dash. Who can get to the Waffle House first after a concert? The artists have requested they be given a 10-minute headstart ahead of Jerry Kirksey. (The artists were not kidding about this one!)
