Comments, comments...

Wednesday, June 23, 2004

Well, I have to admit that I've been very pleasantly surprised at the number of comments I've received since the first appearance of the Danny's Diary blog. Even though I deal with it every day, I supposed I under-estimated the power of the Internet.

Here are just a few of the notes I've received about the first eight editions of Danny's Diary...

(6/21 entry)

"Very good dairy entry. You put it about as plain as you could be [with] 'I wonder if those people will be that nosy in Heaven.'

"I loved your comments on the changes in SGM. Why can't people believe the artists & not always be looking for scandal. Even when there is a problem, I appreciate the fact that the one leaving is not out to slam the group he/she is leaving. After all, that is the Christian attitude we all should have. I appreciate your comments. Hopefully, they will do some good."

Elaine

(6/14 entry)

"The last line in your post about waiters and waitresses asking about your food when you mouth was full....that was kind of funny. What is even funnier is that Christians are the absolute 'toughest' crowd. Being a restaurant manager for 10 years, I have witnessed and could write a book on the subject. Many 'Christians' leave trax for tips, are condescending to my staff and to me, and it is a nightmare to work Sunday days. A lot of my staff just dreads it. "That might be a funny one to bring up."

"I enjoyed today's entry and also got caught up on the other recent postings. I have to agree with your assessment that it's often easy to 'take our eyes off the prize' and that is ministering to our audiences/listeners. I do believe God often ministers to people despite our involvement in the process...but's it's much better if we're aware, at least in some small part, of what's going on."

John

(6/15 entry)

"Rayburn Lane, to me, is like the 6th Dove Brother. I am glad that Rayburn is on the road again with the Dove Brothers and appreciate all McCray Dove did for him while he was recuperating from his illness."

Andrew

(6/17 entry)

"Thanks for helping to put it all in perspective. I have some family members and church friends who look with disdain on Southern Gospel music, musicians, and everything connected with the industry. I'm forwarding this article to them...maybe they will eventually figure out that it isn't just a circus side show. It's a serious ministry with a serious purpose - we just have a lot of fun ministering.

"I appreciate your articles. Keep writing!"

Nancy

(6/10 entry)

"I have not lost friends to combat in the Coast Guard. However, my service has recently lost it's first combat casualty since Vietnam. For a service of little more than 40 thousand, it hits home rather quickly. Several members have lost loved ones from other services.

"I cannot agree with your article more! With over 21 years of service and counting, I am amazed that casualty lists are more of a "stat" and not spoken of that often. May we never forget these brave members and the loss that their families have endured."

Thanks for reading - and I'll have more for you tomorrow.
