2006 NQC #5 (#325) FAN AWARDS
Friday, September 15, 2006
Hey friends!
Here are a few photos we were able to snap for you during last night's Fan Awards. Special thanks go out to Barbara Huffman for the camera work. As you view these photos, keep in mind that it was not possible to get good photos of everything that took place because of working space restrictions and other such technical reasons. So, if you don't see your favorite, don't be alarmed! Be looking for more photos in the November issue of Singing News.
The Inspirations won the award for Favorite Male Quartet, as did Ernie Hasse & Signature Sound (who are in South Africa this week and thus, were not able to attend the ceremony.)

Jerry Kirksey prepares to announce the winners of the Favorite Quartet award.

The Perrys had another good year at the Fan Awards: Favorite Mixed Group, Favorite Album and Libbi was named Favorite Alto.

The Booth Brothers took home a fan award for Favorite Song, "He Saw It All."

The Crabb Family performing.

Greater Vision was named Trio of the Year, and also took home honors for Favorite Web site. Gerald Wolfe was also named Favorite Lead Singer, Rodney Griffin earned honors as Favorite Baritone and Jason Waldroup won the Favorite Young Artist Award.

Legacy Five on stage singing "Out Of My Darkness" during the Fan Awards.

Roger Bennett was named Favorite Pianist.

The Kingdom Heirs Band took home Favorite Band honors.

That's me - listening to Roger's suggestion for a prayer request that the All-Star Quartet NOT buy a bus and hit the road. He doesn't want the competition! This was just moments before I surprised the audience with the news that for the first time in the history of the Singing News Fan Awards that voting in one category had ended with a tie.

And speaking of that quartet, here they are: Archie Watkins, Jim Hamill, Glen Allred and Ed O'Neal. Eddie Crook was the pianist.

Speaking as one of the producers of the program, this pairing of presenters can make you nervous! You never know what Tim Surrett and Karen Peck Gooch might come up with on stage.

Ivan Parker took home awards for Favorite Soloist and Favorite Male Singer
