NASHVILLE, Tenn. - (August 6, 2012) - As every Gospel artist knows, there are a number of behind-the-scenes supporters and friends who mean so much to the work of the ministry. Every once in a while, there is a supporter who goes above and beyond to such a degree as to become a vital part of the ministry. These supporters are more than fans and even more than friends; they are servants of God every bit as much as the artist you see on stages and church platforms.
For Three Bridges, George H. Curnutte, Jr. was such a man. It would be very difficult to put into words how much George meant to Three Bridges since the group's beginning in 2001. George was a best friend to group founder, Elliott McCoy, for more than 40 years. Over the years, George served as advisor, financial supporter, booking agent, concert promoter, soundman, prayer partner, comic relief, bus driver (he referred to himself as "the executive transportation coordinator"), and most importantly, trusted and beloved friend.
On Saturday, July 28, 2012, George went home to be with the Lord after a prolonged battle with cancer.
Elliott McCoy said, "George meant so much to the ministry of Three Bridges that it is hard to imagine what we will do without him! Everywhere we look, from the bus, to the suits he bought for us, to our homes that are filled with things he gave to us, we see reminders of him and the way he touched our lives. Though he never stepped on stage with Three Bridges and never sang a note on our recordings, he was as much a part of Three Bridges as any of us!"
Beyond supporting Three Bridges, George loved and believed in Gospel music. Perhaps the best way for George's legacy to live on is to encourage fans and friends of all Gospel music to let the artists you love and believe in know of your support for their ministry. Love them, pray for them and ask the Lord to show you how to be a blessing to them as they spread the Gospel through the gifts God has given them. You are a bigger and more vital part of their ministry than you will ever know!
