After almost 7 months of searching, Promise has chosen Michael Helwig as their new tenor singer. Group manager and baritone singer, David Mann states, "In November of last year (2011) we began searching for a new tenor. However, the task proved to be rather difficult. Seeing that we were still very new, we didn't want to just settle for anyone, and we found out we would have to wait much longer than we had anticipated. Then, after several auditions/fill-ins, the opportunity to bring Mike into the mix presented itself."
Michael Helwig is originally from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. He's been living in Carthage, Tennessee for several years now with his wife Leslie, their twin daughters Eva and Laura, and their son Sam.
Mike was honored with a Dove Award for Favorite Tenor from the Canadian Gospel Music Association. Many of you may remember him from his time with the Stamps Quartet, The Wilburns, and most recently the Dixie Echoes.
Lead singer, TJ Evans says, "We're thrilled to have such a powerful voice singing with us. Mike is already proving to be a great asset to our sound and we're very excited to share that sound with all of you."
