Singing News has learned that Southern Gospel concert promoter Norman Bonds passed away at 4:24 a.m. Saturday, July 14 (his 63rd birthday), after an extended illness.

Bonds, who promoted concerts primarily throughout South Georgia, used his concerts to help raise much-needed funds for several law enforcement agencies and initiatives—most notably the D.A.R.E. program. Throughout his career, most of Southern Gospel music's leading artists appeared on his events. Bonds was also the co-owner of "The Great American Gospel TV Show" that airs nationwide on many outlets.

Visitation will take place Sunday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Home, 1320 N. Jefferson Street, Dublin, Georgia. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 16 at Baker Baptist Church, 1610 Baker Church Road, Rentz, Georgia.

Bonds is survived by his wife Linda, daughters Brittany (David) Rowe and Daphne (Phil) Best, three sisters, mother-in-law Dorothy Smith, four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
