Update On Stephen Ball's Hearing Problems

- Ball Brothers
Tuesday, September 07, 2010

Stephan Ball, of the Ball Brothers, has suffered hearing problems for a while now. Toward the end of last year the hearing problem increased, hindering his ability to sing and communicate in situations where there was background noise. At that time he met with a local ENT doctor whose test confirmed moderate to major hearing loss in both ears. The cause of the hearing loss was not clearly diagnosed at that time. Stephen was fitted with digital hearing aids and adjustments were made that have allowed him to continue singing.

After several months of appointments and testing in Chattanooga and Nashville, Stephan went to the Shea Clinic in Memphis, TN. Tests showed that Stephen's hearing loss had stabilized over the past six months, but his speech recognition had decreased by 20%. He was given some prescriptions to help improve his hearing condition. Please pray that this medicine does it's job, and the hearing loss stabilizes. If they work, he will return to the Shea Clinic for surgery, which will help his hearing considerably.

Stephen's plan is to continue singing as long as he is able.
