Waynesville, NC - Open heart surgery performed on veteran Southern Gospel singer Eddie Deitz last week at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C., was termed a success by his attending physicians. Eddie is expected to have a complete recovery in several weeks. He has been released from the hospital and is recuperating at his home in Waynesville, North Carolina.
Eddie underwent three heart by-passes after his physicians determined that stint and balloon procedures would be unsuccessful to mend his heart blockage.
He suffered a heart attack Wednesday, May 19, while playing golf and had heart surgery the following day.
Eddie has sung baritone or lead with three full-time Southern Gospel Music groups the Inspirations, Eddie Deitz and Mountain Gospel and currently with Archie Watkins & Smoky Mountain Reunion.
Eddie also pastors Allens Creek Baptist Church in Waynesville, North Carolina.
His family, Archie Watkins & Smoky Mountain Reunion and the Inspirations appreciate the prayers extended on Eddie's behalf and they ask that Gospel music enthusiasts please keep him in prayer as he continues his recovery.
