I just want to keep this poll fresh, so people can vote and so that Singing News can see the results: http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/469733 You have to cut and paste in a new browser to vote or view.

I am so saddened by the recent move of the Singing News Fan Awards from the stage of NQC to Dollywood that I cannot tell you. One of the reasons that I planned my vacation a year in advance was to go to Louisville and be in the audience for the fan awards night. What sense does it make for the awards ceremony to go to a venue that holds less than 2,000 people from a hall where there would be in excess of 10 to 15 thousand people, actual fans. After you remove family and friends and industry people from the crowd how many fans can actually be there to see the event in the Dollywood theatre? Not very many. I think that the NQC will regret this decision or whomever is in charge of the Fan awards because it takes away from the public the chance to give back to the fans who have brought so much great music over the year. I think the artists themselve's will regret it also because they will see a dip in sales of recordings sold after winning their respective awards or nominations. I hope that the people in charge of making this decision will think about it and change back to having the awards ceremony once again at the NQC.

All I can say is, there will be whiplash from this decision. If you don't believe me, watch what happens after NQC this year. You'd be amazed how many SG fans still don't have any idea the Fan Awards aren't going to be at NQC anymore.

We,too, are very disappointed that the move has been made to Dollywood. Like someone said earlier, if there are only 1600 seats at the theatre, how many will be available to FANS?
When Salem Comm. bought Singing News Magazine, seems I recall there would not be change. The magazine is smaller, some favorite articles are gone, page after page of advertising, the cover seldom has a group dressed professionally. Now the awards are gone from NQC. I see a lot of change, it is a disappointment.

Yes, Dollywood is a great place to visit no-doubt. But enough of sugar coating it. The fact our business decisions are made based on numbers or dollars. As much as I a SGM fan I am also a fan of good business. The fan awards were moved becuase of "THE $". Not a nagivate thing but a hard fact. I want Salem Pub. to be around for years to come and by making good business moves they will. SGM fans you need to run out and by tickets the Fan Awards TODAY!

Change is a hard thing to accept some times. Maybe we should just wait and see how the new location works. Dollywood is a great place to visit and maybe some fans that do not get to go to the NQC will be able to be a part of something they love.

I sure wish that the Fan Awards were at the NQC. We cannot go to both. It was one of the highlights of the NQC. Guess this year we won't go to either. Please think about changing it back to NQC next year--even this year if possible!

http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/469733 Please check this out, it is a poll regarding people who want to move the SN awards to Dollywood versus those who want to keep it at the NQC, as you can see, most people would have chose to keep it at NQC, obviously it is too late, but perhaps if there is enough negative response, perhaps the powers that be might move it back, and I agree at $70 a ticket, the SN Awards just won't carry the same prestige, and will become just like those awards where everyone accepts via video message.

Bimmerguy 3/10/2010 1:02 PM
I agree. It is uncertain whether I'll be attending NQC or the "awards" at all next year. They just killed (1) the biggest event [NQC] in southern gospel music, and (2) the most prestigious awards in southern gospel music. The FAN Awards just won't carry the same prestige, and will become just like those awards where everyone accepts via video message. Argh.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but by moving the singing new fans awards to Dollywood is stupied! I am a really big southern gospel music fan and the singing news fan awards is a big part of NQC. Southern Gospel Music is hurting bad enough with trying to kill the NQC too.
