I'm going to disagree. I think this is an excellent move on the part of SN. If I'm correct, NQC has been slowly pushing out the Fan Awards: the move from Thursday to Saturday was a selfish effort on the part of NQC to keep fans around longer and it failed miserably at the expense of SN. Also, I've heard that NQC was only offering the Fan Awards a showcase slot during Saturday afternoon this year. That means that NQC would get to sell tickets for the event, yet SN would still be responsible for all the expense of the show (production, etc...) Also, this move will allow SN to not be bound to time constraints, and judging from the press release, Dollywood is EXCITED to have the show - that's an emotion that NQC doesn't seem to be capable of having. How could SN refuse an offer to go somewhere that is willing to help create the best show possible for every fan? Lets give it a chance. And on a side note, this should prove once and for all to all ingorant know-it-all fans that NQC and SN have no obligation or connection to one another and aren't some giant entity out to dominate SG.

I’m not feeling too good about this either. GaSGMFan is most likely correct; it’ll probably be pricey, along with everything else these days. SN Fan Awards was one of the key components that made NQC so attractive. I guess NQC is loosing some clout, it must be, SN Awards just walked out the door.

I think this is the WORST decision to ever be made. The attendance for the event if held at Dollywood will NOT be what it is at NQC! I look forward to the awards at NQC every year. But now I will be deprived of this because I can't take time off work for both events. I'm not sure who the brains are behind this terrible injustice and mistake BUT I'm hoping that Singing News AND the NQC Board will realize that this is going to hurt BOTH events!!! If there is going to be a merger it would make more sense to move the Hall of Fame induction to Louisville in conjunction with NQC. And so that the Museum doesn't loose money sell a separate ticket for this event. The Museum would probably have a much higher attendance since all of the people are already there! Not to mention the added funds going to the museum because of the larger number of attendees!
Personally, I don't think the Powers to Be gave this much thought at all! I am terribly dissapointed in this decision!!!!
Praying that this mistake will be reversed before it is too late!

Not sure how I feel about this. I have attended the Fan Awards for the last several years at NQC. I have also attended the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony before and after their move to Dollywood. I am also a huge Dollywood fan and have been a season ticket holder for over 10 years. Having said all of that, I am sure the ticket for this combined event will be pricey. It also means the Fan Awards will have a much smaller live audience than it has had at NQC simply due to the size of the venue. I also believe it will hurt attendance at NQC on saturday night. Still trying to decide who wins on this move.

This is VERY disappointing....we look forward to the awards at NQC and especially liked it on Saturday night. It is too much to turn around and have another very expensive trip so close to NQC. We are now forced to choose and will continue to support NQC.
