We go every year and have for years to the NQC, our favorite part is the singing news fans award program. I am not sure if we will continue to attend the NQC and know we can not travel to Dolly Wood to attend there. We travel several hours as it is to attend now. Without the fan awards i feel it is going to hurt the attendance of the NQC. I know i am but one disapointed fan but there are many others. I wish you had not made this change, southern gospel music is the best music in the world so guess i will hear a lot less of it since i will no longer be going to NQC.

I will still support the National Quartet Convention. It is still a bargain for my family to attend since we live only 5 miles from Louisville. If they do move to Indianapolis, then we probably won't go. I am, however, no longer going to subscribe to the Singing News magazine. I can get my Southern Gospel news through other sources. The opportunity to vote on my favorite artists and see the winners accept the fan awards made the subscription worth it. I almost cancelled my subscription a few years ago when they boycotted the newly formed Carolina Boys Quartet due to the Kingsmen name being sold and retired. Southern Gospel is not the same as it was when I started listening to it. The music itself is changing and the industry side of things are changing. I feel like the Singing News owes its readers an apology.

Yes, NQC had become a place of sentimental value to me. I have so many memories of going with members of my family and just "escaping" from everything. But a move to Indy and a removal of the awards deeply affects the appeal. With mind-numbing moves like this, I just don't have the same attachment anymore.

SGBev This change has promted me to rethink my attending the NQC. We come for the whole week and also look forward to the Awards presentation. Taking this away I feel will really hurt the NQC. It seems like it is all about the money and you have forgotten the fans who have made Singing News and the NQC successful. I for one will not vote this year in the Singing News Fan Awards ballot. What difference does it make now. We will continue to support the artist when we can in other ways. When our Singing News subscription runs out we will not renew it. Change can be good, but whats happening here will cause many people to not attend the NQC in the future.

You know Leggedo, we had a family meeting and our tickets are already on their way back to NQC. All 5 nights. We have given up our permanent seat holder status. Theres just to much "change" going on in a time when stability is what the country needs. The NQC was the one time out of the year to escape to a happier place, just being with other Christians for a week would carry me from year to year. But between wanting to move to Indy AND removing the awards, its just not appealing anymore.

I have been attending the NQC since it first came to Nashville so you know I am a big fan. The moving of the awards to Dollywood is a huge mistake. Why should we even stay the whole week? The top groups will be gone on the weekend, out singing somewhere. Having the awards on Sat. assured us that there would be great groups all week. How many people can afford to go to both events? Who will benefit by this decision, certainly not the fans. The arena will be empty on the weekend. The awards program was the big highlight of the year that we all looked forward to. Please admit this was a big mistake & go back to how it has been.

This change must be totally about the bottom-line dollar. My wife and I and other friends of ours have attended the NQC three of the last four years. The highlight each year to us is the opportunity to see the Singing News Fan Awards, since we are fans of Southern Gospel Music. To us this is the largest venue in Southern Gospel Music, what better way or avenue to showcase the fans choices in these awards than at the NQC each year. Last year while at the NQC we purchased our tickets for 2010 and our life-time seats, now this disappointing announcement. We are giving serious consideration to cancelling our tickets for this year and requesting a refund on them. We hope that the powers to be in both the NQC and the Singing News will reverse this decision in the coming weeks.

Due to going to college I can't attend the National Quartet Convention. So last year I decided to buy the online pass so I could see the fan awards. What's the point this year! I can listen to the songs on the radio for free. It blessed my heart last year see the groups express appreciation unto the Lord, for the ability to carry the gospel in song, and for there kind words to the fans for voting for them. I really believe that the fan awards help make the National Quartet Convention what it is today. The decision to move the awards only hurt the National Quartet Convention not help!

I have to agree with the first two comments. It is quite disappointing to take away the awards night from NQC and from the fans who enjoying seeing the artists accept their awards that they had voted the for. This has been the hightlight of the week at NQC.

I think it's a GREAT Idea. There's always a time for change, and I feel this will be a good change.
