Looks as if the battle is lost. The entire six day schedule is now posted on the NQC website. I view the issue as being more between Salem Communication (Gaither) and NQC rather than Singing News. I see this as an opportunity for Ray Flynn and Singing in the Sun to take off with something great in Myrtle Beach.

I have only been to NQC one time and the best part for me was the fan awards. I have to agree with the posts that have been made. I think this is very sad for those fans who have gone to NQC MANY years. Just to have the venue and date changed without at least providing fan input? That doesn't seem right to me.

playpiano4God, my husband and I have already decided not to vote. We see no point. So we're already on that band wagon. I won't tell others not to because thats a personal choice, but if many of us didn't I wonder if that would drive home a point.

I'm not happy at all about this decision. It's we the fans that vote for the Singing News FAN awards. Without us fans there would be no awards, so why wasn't the fans consulted first about this? Or why were WE not give the opporutnity to vote if we would like the awards to remain at Louisville or be moved?? hsdrummer..you are on to something. I think all us subscribers should not vote at all this year. We should all ban together and not vote. Then what?? NQC will not be the same. Sad, very sad.

I was very upset to see that the Singing News Fan Awards are being moved to Dollywood. I can't believe The NQC would agree to this. The awards were the highlight of the Convention. The awards were moved to get more people to attend on the weekend and to keep the top groups there. Who is going to be there Friday and Saturday now? I doubt that many of the top groups will stay when they can go out and get paid to sing. Maybe they will have to be given an incentive to stay. How many "fans" will be able to attend the awards? There are only about 1600 seats available and most of them will be taken by the groups. I can't afford to go to NQC and then about 10 days later drive 11 hours again for the awards. I think this decision will be the end of The NQC. I don't have any reason to stay the whole week. I've been coming for over 25 years and always looked forward to going, now I'm not so sure. Also I am considering what hsdrummer questioned.

If something works, why change it.The highlight of the convention was the award show. Do you think that people who live 12 or 14 hours away from NQC are going to travel to Dolly Wood? Then if you move the NQC away from Louisville what are we the people who live in the deep south going to do for gospel music. I think you are going to be hurting your own self. Please reconsider.

What a sorry move!!! The highlight of N.Q.C. has been moved so we all can't partisipate. I have been attending the N.Q.C. sense befor you left Nashville. We love gospil music & always will! What a joy to view the awards ceremony & see the joy & pride on the hard working dedicated singers.Now you are taking it away from us!! We are thinking of not attending any more.N.Q.C. We pray you willre consider your mistake!!!

It is hard for me to believe that the NQC board would push out the SN award ceremony for an afternoon slot. Not saying they would not but it just does not make sense. The board loves gospel music as much as the next fan. But to think the place in dolly wood would not hold that many fans is this not what it is all about the FAN AWARDS!!!!! Please SN do something to work this all out where the fans will be happy and still get to enjoy NQC and the awards. I am sure you will hear a lot more compaints from your fans over this matter.
