Singing News regretfully reports that Herman Burleson, tenor vocalist for the True Gospel Quartet of Barnardsville, NC, is in a fight for his life.
Mr. Burleson has been ill for the last two years. He had his left kidney removed in 2000 after cancer was found in the cells that make up the kidney's tissue lining. Two nerve block procedures were unsuccessful to eliminate the pain caused by the cancer, and tumors were recently discovered in his liver and back.
The True Gospel Quartet was a highly-popular regional group for over 25 years. During its heyday, the True Gospel Quartet consisted of Herman Burleson, tenor; his wife, Lucille, alto and pianist; SB Deaver, lead; and Kye English, bass. Together, they made up what many noted Southern Gospel Music analysts regard as one of the smoothest-sounding groups to ever step on stage.
God still conducts miracles and can completely heal Mr. Burleson. He and his family request your urgent and fervent prayers during this difficult time. Cards, flowers and letters may be sent to Herman Burleson in care of: True Gospel Quartet, 29 Martins Creek Road, Barnardsville, NC 28709.
