The Singing News Fan Awards is the Southern Gospel Industry's PREMIERE fan-voted awards show, and this year's show is just around the corner! For the second straight year, the Singing News Fan Awards will also feature the Southern Gospel Music Association's Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony, and will take place on September 28th in the D.P. Celebrity Theatre at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN. Preceeding the event will be a number of events inside the park, including an elegant Red Carpet ceremony for fans to see and interact with their favorite artists up close.
Gordon Mote and Gerald Wolfe have been announced as the hosts of the Singing News Fan Awards/SGMA Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Winners from over 20 Fan Awards categories will be announced as sealed envelopes are handed over from the Brentwood, Tennessee, accounting firm of Rayburn, Bates & Fitzgerald, P.C. In addition, The Statler Brothers, one of the most award-winning groups in music history, will receive the 2011 James D. Vaughan Impact Award. Group members Harold Reid, Phil Balsley, Jimmy Fortune and Don Reid will be on hand to accept the award which is named in honor of James D. Vaughan, a Southern gospel music pioneer and one of the genre's founders. Past recipients include Bill Gaither, James Blackwood, Les Beasley, Bob Brumley, Mosie Lister, Paul Heil, Eva Mae LeFevre, J.G. Whitfield, Lari Goss, Barbara Mandrell and Dolly Parton. The Southern Gospel Music Association's Hall Of Fame will see a number of new members. They are, in the deceased category, Doris Akers, Doyle Blackwood, Roy Carter and Opal "Bobo" Lester. In the living category, Bob Brumley, Kenny Gates, Jerry Kirksey and Willie Wynn.
