Chocolate Meringue Bars


Ingredients

1/2 Cup Crisco

1/2 Cup granulated sugar

1/2 Cup brown sugar

2 egg yolks

1 Tablespoon water

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 1/2 Cups sifted flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 6-oz package semi-sweet chocolate bits

Cream shortening and sugars. Beat egg yolks together thoroughly with water and vanilla; add to creamed mixture and beat well. Sift dry ingredients together and blend into above mixture. Pat dough in a greased 13x9-inch pan, and sprinkle with chocolate bit
