Dumplings:1/2 Cup sugar1 Cup thin cream or milk1 1/2 to 2 Cups flour1 teaspoon baking powder1 teaspoon vanillaSauce:1 1/2 Cups sugar1/4 teaspoon salt2 Cups boiling water2 Tablespoons butter or oleo
Dumplings: Brown or caramelize the sugar. Add boiling water, salt and remaining sugar. Cook until dissolved which requires about 8 minutes. Drop dumplings by spoonful in sauce and bake in oven about 20 minutes in a moderate oven.
