Cherry Torte


Ingredients

Shell:

3 egg whites

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 Cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

3/4 Cup chopped walnuts

1/2 Cup saltine cracker crumbs

1 teaspoon baking powder

Filling:

1 can pitted tart cherries

1/4 Cup sugar

1/8 teaspoon salt

4 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions

Shell:

Combine whites and salt. Beat, gradually adding sugar until very stiff peaks form. Add vanilla and fold in. Combine remaining ingredients and fold in. Spread on well-greased pie plate. Bake at 300 degrees for 40 minutes.
